How to Automate Scheduled Updates Across All of Your Social Networks

In the video above I reference this video, which shows how to update all of your social networking profiles at once.

Interesting, if not a little over-engineered. (The email send to the customer and to them could be handled from Gravity Forms.)

Definitely a nice little time-saver for cutting down on administrative tasks involved with one-off projects!

Hi this is Laura Roeder from getthedash.com and today I want to show you how to schedule an update that will go out to all your social media networks at any time in the future, pretty cool stuff. So the tool we are going to use to do this is called hootsuite.com, it is free and it allows you to send multiple social networks at once. You can see another one of my videos to learn how to add your social networks here but for now I want to show you exactly how to schedule something to go out in the future to all of your social networks. So you don’t have to be sitting around in a computer all day, you can schedule it.

Now what you will want to use this for is things like remembering to draw regular attention to your website or to regularly promote things like blog posts or programs or services that you offer. So if you are not sure what to use this for, promoting all blog posts is a great so that’s what we are going to do right now.

So you will just want to look through your blog, find a really great post that you want to remember to keep drawing attention too, usually don’t remember to go through your blog and find all the posts that people like but remember new people are discovering you all the time. So I am going to choose this one on my blog called how to have high value relaxation and then I am going to copy and paste the URL then type out the message. So I will write; “Have you seen my video about high value relaxing? I am going to put the URL shrinker, it will shrink it and now my update is all ready to go. I am going to send this to Twitter, to LinkedIn to my Facebook personal profile and my Facebook fun page and then I am going to click send later here at the top. so I am just going to go ahead and send this out in a month because in a month I might have forgotten about this post but I might have new people want to see this so I will send this out on a Thursday, I’ll say at 9:20 in the morning. I hit schedule and now this message has been scheduled to go out in the future for Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn. Really cool. Again the tool I am using is called hootsuite.com and this is Laura Roeder from getthedash.com

  1. Hi Laura,

Thanks for this video, it brought up a few questions/concerns I’ve had about hootsuite. Last week I tested the link after my post went live on twitter. Guess what? Their were ads at the top of the page, ads from my competition…yikes!

Also, do you have to be logged in to hootsuite? A few times they did not go out as scheduled, hmmm.

    Cheers,

    Kim

  2. Great tip! I’ll keep it in mind for future future posts, so to speak.

  3. Automating your posts makes the idea of adding new content less daunting so I will be less likely to procrastinate.
