The Most Biased Review You’ll Ever Read of Marie Forleo’s Rich, Happy & Hot B-School

What if there was a secret map that explained the most crucial components to the huge success I’ve had in business?

What if there was a list of the key leverage points that you MUST hit to turn yourself from a struggling entrepreneur to an online powerhouse?

Well honestly . . .

There is!

Let me tell you the story -

Back in 2010 I worked with Marie Forleo (perhaps you’ve heard of her – Oprah? Hello?) to co-found a program to take female entrepreneurs through the real-deal process of creating a massively successful online business, step by step.

Me, Richard Branson & Marie Forleo

Marie and I had gone to countless seminars and training programs together and while we had learned a ton we saw a HUGE hole in the market – no one was explaining what you REALLY need to do to make an online business succeed. (We had a feeling this might be because no one wanted to admit that it is insanely hard work!)

So we taught what we knew – exactly what we had both done to create massively profitable online businesses – and put it into an online training program called Rich, Happy & Hot B-School.

Fast forward to today – now Marie has taken the reigns on B-School and the program has taken off bigger than I ever could have dreamed when we started just a few years ago.

B-School *IS* the map that I followed. I know because I helped to create it! And that’s why I have to admit this review is probably the most biased one you’ll ever read. It’s sort of like a mom writing a review of her baby. But now that we have that out of the way, here’s what I think of B-School . . .

B-School is divided into 6 core modules:

  1. Profit Clarity

Profit Clarity is what I used to figure out exactly which products and services would be the most profitable. I started out doing consulting and through the profit clarity model discovered that was actually the wrong model for my business. (Although consulting is great model for many, profit clarity helps you discover what’s right for *you*).

  1. Websites That Sell and Don’t Suck

This section of B-School is so crucial because your website IS your marketing, plain and simple. And so many entrepreneurs have “website shame” – that feeling where you’re actually embarrassed to think of a prospect coming across your site! I think website shame is so prevalent because we get overwhelmed figuring out what needs to be changed on our site. In B-School Marie walks you through which parts of your site are *essential* for success and which parts you should stop wasting time on.

  1. Your Slam Dunk Communication Plan

Let me just be frank on this one – sooo many business owners are wasting years of their lives writing countless emails and blog posts that never lead to a single sale! It seems like the parade of blog posts on this topic is never ending, yet clearly people are missing a step-by-step plan for exactly what to say, on what medium, and when. That’s what this section of B-School provides.

  1. List Building Mania

Building your list! When I used to coach B-School students maybe the number one question i was asked is “how do I build my list?”. That’s because B-Schoolers are a smart bunch! Knowing how to build your list truly is one of the nonnegotiable keys to success. But it’s also one of the most mysterious. If you want to know exactly how I’ve built my list to 50,000+ just go through this section of B-School, because what Marie teaches is exactly what I’ve done.

  1. How to Create Products and Services That Practically Sell Themselves

I have not seen training like this anywhere outside B-School and I really don’t understand why – how you put together a product or service is key to how well it will sell. If you have ever released a program that was a dud and you didn’t know why, or if you have hesitated on launching because you aren’t confident that your product is exactly what your market is looking for, this training is exactly what you need.

  1. Marketing Wisdom That Works Across Every Industry

Marie has been a HUGE marketing mentor to me, and I would say she is one of the top 10 copywriters working today. (If you’re talking writing copy to women specifically, maybe #1.) Honestly I would advise that ANYONE join B-School for this section alone, implementing the advice here is very easy way to get a quick return on your B-School investment.

B-School is only held once a year, and it will soon be opening it’s doors for 2013. Enrollment is only open for just about a week, so make sure to sign up here to be notified as soon as it’s open.

Marie also always sends out a series of free videos leading up to B-School to help you put the ideas above in action before B-School even starts, here’s the link where you can find those.

So my thoroughly biased review is B-School is THE go-to source for anyone who wants to make it big online. It’s what I did, it’s what Marie did, and with an open mind and a LOT of drive you can do it too.

  1. Laura, I love this because I took B-School last year and you may think your review is biased, but you’re so right. There is nothing like B-School.

One thing you didn’t mention that has been huge for my personal and professional life is the relationships I’ve developed because of B-School. I now have a community of women supporting me who get it. I even am now part of an amazing Mastermind group because of the connections I’ve made.

The thing is, you may have supportive family, friends, and partners but when you’re in a group of people who can say, “I feel exactly the same way. I know what you’re going through.” you feel like finally you have someone who knows what it’s like. This kind of support is huge for those days you just don’t feel like getting out of bed.

Being able to Facebook or email someone and say, “help, I’m just not feeling it” and having loving, supportive words come back is something I am truly grateful for and it’s all because I took B-School.

    Thank you!

    • Hi Jenna, I was wondering what type of technical support structures are recommended throughout the program or that you use now since going through the program [things like how to change your header, get a new one designed, change the flow of your e-mail opt-in, or place one at the bottom of every post?] … did you have to stumble a bit through those yourself?

  2. Hi Robert,

I’ve done B-School in 2012 and I have to say it is the single most important investment I have ever made for my business, hands down!

It’s important to understand that Marie is not a designer. She teaches you the 6 pillars to success as Laura outlined above. In my opinion, B-School helps you get your sh*t together BEFORE you bother with the look & feel.

So even though there is not a step-by-step tutorial for design elements like creating headers and such, she did, however, take the time to create a shortlist of resources that you can take advantage of. There is also a very thorough guideline in module two of how to hire a web pro with specific questions to ask to make sure you are both on the same page and that nobody gets burned in the process.

There are also tons of bonus technical training videos from other people who are experts in their field that cover the basics of WordPress, Google Analytics, Opt-ins, psychology, social media and more.

However, you can tap into the B-School community for visual work, there are tons of designers that have done B-School in years past and they are happy to help anyway they can, whether it’s services or online classes. Seriously, it’s as simple as posting a request in the private group.

    Hope this helps!

  3. Thanks for this. I really want to do B-School and appreciate the review. Been a big fan of Marie since for a while now and will be making the investment which I’m sure will be well worth it :-) Thank you.
