  1. I love the phrase “big banana” it just cracks me up! And I just wanted to share I did this test with my website and this is what I saw… What stands out for me is the slideshow I’ve got on my homepage which shows my products. I think this is good because you immediately “see” what you’re getting working with me. My business name is clear – after a point – so I think this helps push along that point. From an artistic & visual perspective I would say the slideshow stands out so much because it’s a great source of color in a sea of a lot of white and it’s pretty large.

Other than navigation & the header of course the only other thing on the page of real noticeability is my sign up form. I think I’d like to change the language and put my social media profile buttons below it rather than what’s there, but that’s it.

This is a great test to perform on *any* page of your website – because each page has a purpose and focus you want to hit on, even if they contain some similar information!

  2. I have always used the 7 second test, hopefully the benefit driven headline or other feature stands out and keeps the user around for a little longer. I squinted at our blog and wasn’t impressed. Time to make a change or two. Thanks Laura.

  3. Orange you glad how bananas always get attention?

This got me thinking again how every now and zen I fall into the trap of showcasing a thing, instead of showcasing the value or benefit.

Interestingly, just asking the simple question — “What do you want to help people with?” is a great way to find your Big Banana.
